A lot of these ratings are from years ago I noticed. As a parent if you are reading this, I would invite you to go visit the school, visit their website, find out for YOURSELF of how this is the best school district in Cooke County. This is 2015. Surrounding districts do not have the funding, personnel or foresight to provide the opportunities GHS has in place right now. From a Collegiate Academy to almost 30 different programs to receive a certification and a direct route to employment. My daughter was in floral design, theater and debate. This school value Athletics, Academics and they have the best counseling team in North Texas. NCTC is in their back yard and they have taken full advantage of that. I believe they even received a distinction from the TEA for Post-Secondary readiness. The proof is in the pudding, not in some rumor you overheard 6 years ago.

Gainesville Schools are diligent in their efforts to include their students in community activities. Students participate in local charity work, civic groups, and are encouraged by staff, as well as by individuals in our city, to further their education. Many opportunities are in place to assist both parents and students in understanding the choices in their futures. Gainesville is diverse, as opposed to smaller communities around it. It excludes no one, believing every child deserves a quality education. It is a big world out there, full of all nationalities, beliefs and economic levels. Children who learn this early will always have an advantage as they go through life.

Gainesville ISD has made a great transformation over the last five years. GISD has the best principal in North Texas. The teachers are doing outstanding work and are having tremendous impact on our students. The school facilities are first class. GISD provides top quality education, a collegiate academy for honor students, and a safe learning environment.

Gainesville high school is a poor school. It was filled with very little extracurricular activities and with tons of cheaters. 5 out of the top 10 do not deserve that spot and are a sad excuse for the most intelligent people in the school. I wish I would have knew before hand how bad the staff and teachers were before I chose to attend their for two years of my life. Out of the whole student body 15% met standards of leadership and integrity I saw with the most brilliant students I came across in more affluent communities. I was in all honors classes and even took dual credit and was disappointed in both. Most of the kids will assuredly be unprepared and very low in comparison to kids at the same level in a more well rounded and educated school. However, the school did teach me how to deal with a negative situation in positive light and to be aware of the different kinds of people around me in a way a grew as a person by being exposed to a stifling learning environment and a bad situation. I learned to never give up even when life surrounds you with very little opportunity to excel.

The junior class of Gainesville high is an awesome group of kids by far in my opinion the best. This is a result of the kind of school we have always striving to make a difference.

I would not let my children go to Gainesville schools for no amount of money. My children used to be students there and we moved to a bigger city. My kids were so far behind in academics it was unreal. Since moving my children realize what how bad the school system really is. They have no desire to return at all. Most people do not realize this until they move their kids into a really good school system. Gainesville is rated a 1 by Texas that is the lowest rating you can get.
